A former Google China executive reportedly wrote in his blog that Apple expects to sell 10 million tablet PCs in its first year out. He also offered specifics about the hardware, and said Steve Jobs will release the tablet in January.

Government decides to sue Croatia for genocide
The Serbian government has decided to sue Croatia for genocide before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague. The lawsuit will be filed for the crimes committed against Croatia’s ethnic Serb population between 1991 and 1995.
Greece’s PM to visit Belgrade on Monday
Prime Minister of Greece George Papandreou will visit Belgrade on Monday, January 4, the Greek embassy told Tanjug on Thursday. Papandreou, who is foreign minister as well, will be the honorary speaker at the annual ambassador conference organized by the Serbian Foreign Ministry.
Tadić to tour GSZ on Sunday
President Boris Tadić will be taking a trip to the Ground Safety Zone (GSZ) on Sunday, it was announced in Belgrade today. There, the president will visit members of the Serbian Army (VS) and police (MUP), deployed in the area.

Serbia’s roads “less deadly” this year
798 people died in traffic accidents in Serbia in 2009 – 99 less than in the previous year. According to Serbian police (MUP) data, 897 people died in car accidents in Serbia in 2008, not including Kosovo, while the number of deaths was 968 in 2007.
K. Albanian kills five, self in Finland shooting
Four people have been shot dead at a shopping mall in the Finnish city of Espoo on Thursday. It’s not clear how may others may have been injured in the shooting, while the fifth victim is the killer’s ex-girlfriend, whose body was found in an apartment, reports say.
Serbia “on right path again”, says FM
FM Vuk Jeremić says Serbia has the capacity and resolve to “break all records in 2010″, when it comes to the speed of joining the EU. “From a hyperactive year in the foreign policy domain, Serbia is entering another of the kind. We are resolved to catch up with some countries that are, due to the circumstances, ahead of us in the EU-integration track,” he told Belgrade daily VeÄernje Novosti.

America is finally poised to get mobile television
YOUR correspondent is always miffed when he sees others taking for granted things he has waited years for. Case in point: the way the Japanese think it is perfectly normal to watch live national and local television free on their mobile phones. In fact, they can do so on practically anything they care to carry around with them—from portable game consoles and electronic dictionaries to satnavs for their cars. And it is not just in Japan that you can watch live television on the hoof. It is also taken for granted in South Korea, China, Brazil and parts of Europe.
Sure, you can do it—sort of—on mobile phones in America. But it certainly is not free; nor is it widespread or capable of providing local news. Verizon, America’s largest mobile operator, offers ten channels of news, sports, prime-time shows and cartoons for an additional $15 a month. AT&T, the number two mobile-phone company, offers a larger package for somewhat less. Both carriers use a technology from Qualcomm called MediaFLO that can deliver more than 20 channels of television to mobile phones. …
Southern town to have “largest cross in Balkans”
The largest cross in the Balkans will be constructed in Niš by 2013 and it will cost about EUR 1,5mn, reports from this southern Serbian town said. The 80-meter-tall cross should be built in time to mark the 1,700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, when Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (Serbian: Konstantin Veliki) recognized Christianity as his empire’s religion.
Nigerian farmers take Shell to Dutch court
In a David against Goliath case, Nigerian farmers are taking on petroleum giant Shell and demanding compensation for oil spills that contaminated their land. After several failed attempts to bring the issue to court, four farmers, with the help of Friends of the Earth, brought the case before a court in the Netherlands, as Shell is partly a Dutch company.
“Half of sports clubs led by mafia”
Interior Minister Ivica DaÄić says “every criminal in Serbia owned one or more clubs” and wonders how fans can be expected to be “better than club managements”. “Today we don’t know who owns the clubs. I wanted to hold a meeting with the clubs’ presidents before this year’s (football) championship started, but I decided to cancel it when I learned who was supposed to attend it.”
Central bank sells EUR 58.5mn
The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has sold EUR 58.5mn in order to prevent disturbances in the inter-bank market. The disturbances were expected due to the considerable growth of the Serbian dinar (RSD) liquidity.
