Morocco urges status talks for Kosovo

Moroccan ambassador to Serbia Kamal Faqir Benaissa stated that he hopes that dialogue between Belgrade and PriÅ¡tina would be renewed. He said that some of the big powers of the world would probably make Serbia’s diplomatic efforts more difficult in the United Nations.

Delta conflict “not political”

Former Delta Holding vice-president Milka Forcan said that her conflict with company owner Miroslav Mišković does not have a political background. She told daily Politika that she does not have the feeling that politicians are using her in the fight against one of the wealthiest people in Serbia.

Russian fires spread to far east

As the authorities battle to contain forest fires that have parts of central Russia, others have spread to the extreme east of the country. Officials close to the border with China say their region has been affected. Fires have also been reported in the Kamtchatka peninsula in the extreme north-east.

Israel strikes Gaza tunnels after rocket attack

The Israeli army says warplanes have launched an attack on two tunnels used by smugglers in the southern Gaza Strip in response to a rocket attack. The military said Sunday two Israel Air Force jets struck two Gaza targets just hours after a Qassam rocket hit a building in the Israeli border town of Sderot, a frequent target of rockets fired from Gaza.

DS official supports talks with Priština

Democratic Party (DS) official Dragoljub Mićunović said that Serbia needs to talk with Kosovo officials for the sake of the people living in the province. He told Podgorica daily Vijesti that the situation of the people living there is more important than the legal issues relating to Kosovo.

Greek Deputy FM meets with K. Albanian leaders

Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas said that Greece is ready to support cooperation between Serbia and Kosovo. Droutsas, who left Belgrade for Priština after meeting with official in Belgrade over the last two days, met with Kosovo Albanian President and Prime Minister Fatmir Sejdiu and Hashim Thaci in Priština.

Analyst: Serbia needs compromise

Political analyst Predrag Simić said that the visit of Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas to Belgrade can be seen as an effort to ease tensions.
