The Big Up Festival Announces One Year Hiatus

THE BIG UP MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL
PLANS HIATUS FOR FESTIVAL EVENT 2012

Festival organizers, Shireworks Productions announced today that The Big Up Music and Arts Festival will be taking a one-year hiatus. The festival organizers have stated that unforeseen circumstances have driven the need to take the summer of 2012 off, and insist that plans are underway for a large scale festival event for 2013.

Shireworks Productions plans to release music downloads from The Big Up 2011's top performances available early spring 2012, and a DVD release in the summer 2012, highlighting memorable moments, interviews and B-rolls of footage throughout festival.

The following statement was released by the festival organizers on The Big Up Music and Arts Festival website and Facebook page today:

"Dear Friends and family of The Big Up and Shireworks Productions:

It is with much disappointment that we must announce that The Big Up will be taking an unexpected hiatus this year. However, in the face of this disappointment, we maintain the position that sacrifices must be made in order to keep an eye on the bigger picture.

As a festival, we couldn't have been happier with TBU 2011, and we have you, the fans and the family to thank for making it as magical as we all remember. The fact of the matter is that there are factors beyond our control that have forced us to make a very difficult decision.

Like many great festivals and events in history have had to do- we are taking this hiatus for 2012, so that we may come back stronger in 2013!

The Big Up was and is about letting yourself be taken by the current of our beautiful community and culture and enjoying every minute of the ride, not swimming against it. We all experienced something very special in the last two summers, and it will not be forgotten over the next one.

As an extended family was solidified in the woods, on the fields, and in front of the four stages at Sunnyview Farm, and as the last beautiful notes rang out when the sun began to rise that Sunday morning, it may have felt like the magic was coming to an end, however, it was just beginning of something greater to come.

Trust us when we say that we are a family and we aren't going anywhere. The Big Up will continue to grow, as every long-lost stranger feels that magical moment when they become a piece of something greater than the sum of it's parts.

With that in mind, we are already working on plans for The Big Up 2013, and we are very enthusiastic to have an opportunity for a head start on next year.

We look forward to sharing some Big Up moments with you over the next year as we reminisce of the memory of 2011 with the release of music downloads of memorable sets and a documentary DVD from TBU 2011.

So get out there and see some awesome music! Give that long-lost stranger a family hug. Let your inhibitions down. We'll see you in 2013! BIG UPS!"

Chris Cornell Adds Acoustic Songbook Tour Dates

Chris Cornell has announced select Songbook performances throughout May including rescheduled dates for the shows he had to postpone in the Fall due to laryngitis caused by flu.

The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter released his first ever solo, acoustic album, Songbook (UME), in November to wide acclaim. The collection was compiled from Cornell's Spring run of Songbook performances which highlighted works from his entire catalogue of songwriting including songs penned for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

Over 60 Artists Added To Inaugural Treefort Music Fest

OVER 120 ARTISTS TO PERFORM IN BOISE, IDAHO

The inaugural Treefort Music Fest, which will take place March 22 - 25 in downtown Boise, Idaho, has announced the festival's full lineup. Previously announced performers include Built to Spill, of Montreal, WHY?, The Cave Singers, Typhoon, Blitzen Trapper, AraabMUZIK, Delicate Steve, EMA, and many more.

Unannounced additions to the lineup include Tennis, DJ Dug Martsch, Grieves & Budo, Motopony, Cheyenne Marie Mize, The Spyrals , and over 50 more artists. The full lineup, with over 120 acts with day-by-day breakdowns, is listed here.

Alaska Airlines is sponsoring the giveaway of two round-trip tickets from anywhere in the US - that Alaska flies - to the festival. The winner of the airline tickets will also be given two 4-day festival passes. Fans can enter the contest by visiting here and signing up before 10 AM MST on February 27.

The festival's schedule will be announced February 14.

Walter Trout: New Album, Spring/Summer Tour

WALTER TROUT RETURNS WITH BLUES FOR THE MODERN DAZE;
FIRST 35 DATES OF MAJOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR ANNOUNCED

The Mascot Label Group has announced an April 24 release date for Walter Trout's 21st album Blues For The Modern Daze. The offering displays the contemporary guitar legend returning to his hard-core blues roots, with songwriting at a creative and personal zenith. Blues For The Modern Daze is Trout's sixth recording for Provogue Records, a division of the Mascot Label Group, and his first pure blues album in 23 years as a bandleader.

Blues for the Modern Daze was recorded at Entourage Studios in North Hollywood, California, with Trout and engineer Eric Corne producing. It's the fifth time Trout has collaborated with Corne, who contributed to the arrangements and sonic palette of the songs that Trout wrote and demoed on acoustic guitar during the year before the sessions. The EPK for Blues for the Modern Daze can be viewed below.

Trout returns to the road in the U.S. on April 25 in Solana Beach, CA. Confirmed appearances are listed below.

As he puts the finishing touches on his as-yet-untitled second solo album due out May 22, Slash has announced that his headlining U.S. tour will begin May 3 in Baltimore. A fan pre-sale begins this Wednesday, February 15, with the regular on-sale starting Friday, February 17. Tickets will be available at: www.SlashOnline.com. The itinerary (see below) encompasses three festival appearances: Saturday, May 5 at Carolina Rebellion, Saturday, May 19 at Rock On The Range and Friday, May 25 at Rocklahoma.

For the new album, Slash--along with his bandmates Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass)--have teamed with producer Eric Valentine, who also produced the Slash disc.
