Wes Craven and Dimension Films are looking for a boost of energy from Young Hollywood as they prepare to begin production on the next installment of their money-making slasher franchise, Scream. Twilight actress Ashley Greene, former Heroes starlet Hayden Panettiere, Lake Bell, and Rory Culkin of Twelve fame have been offered starring roles as the new generation of murder victims in Scream 4, shooting in July.

“If deals are concluded, Greene would play Campbell’s cousin Jill, essentially the heroine of the movie, and Panettiere would play her best friend, a nerdy film geek. Culkin would play a potential love interest for Jill….
Bell is negotiating to play a police officer who knew Sidney (Campbell) from high school,” The Hollywood Reporter’s HeatVision Blog writes.

David Arquette, Courteney Cox, and Neve Campbell — who starred as Dewey, Gail, and Sidney, respectively, in the first three Scream films — will reprise their roles in the forthcoming flick.

Scream 4 opens in theaters April 15.
