The developmentally-challenged man who inspired the title character in the Oscar-winning 1988 movie “Rain Man” died in Utah last weekend.

Kim Peek suffered a massive heart attack Saturday morning and died at a hospital in the Salt Lake City suburb of Murray, Utah, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday. He was 58. Peek was a savant with a remarkable memory and inspired writer Barry Morrow to pen the movie that won four Academy Awards; including Best Film and Best Actor for Dustin Hoffman; after the two met at a convention in the early 1980s.
Hoffman’s repetitive rants about being an excellent driver and The People’s Court about to start were a hit with moviegoers.
