Star Wars: In Concert is described as a multimedia event that features music from all six of the movie scores written by John Williams, and teams them with footage from the movies in a venture backed by Star Wars creator George Lucas.

“We’ve taken the key themes from the music and cut together all the images that fit with each theme, so you can really get a sense of how the music played into the images,” Lucas said in a statement.
“The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams’ creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the films.”

The North American tour of the Star Wars show comes four years after the program was first showcased in London under the title Star Wars: A Musical Journey. Organizers are planning a world tour in 2010, The China Daily reports.

Each show will last approximately 2 hours — including original film montages from the big screen blockbusters. An exhibit accompanying the concert will include the full costumes for Jedi masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon, as well as props from all six Star Wars films.

The tour, kicking off in Anaheim, California Oct. 1, will play about 40 dates in the US and Canada before the end of the year.

Tickets for the U.S. leg go on sale August 1.
