New Delhi: Ritu Kapoor, a resident of Hari Nagar, and her associate Mohammed Zia were arrested on Sunday evening for kidnapping six children, the youngest just 15 days old.

With their arrest, police have recovered two children. While two others were recovered earlier, one has been found dead and one is yet to be traced, an officer said.

According to the police, Kapoor was thrown out of the house by her husband and his family since she could not conceive.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said she kidnapped a toddler for the first time in August last year and fooled her husband into believing he was their child.

Aggarwal said Kapoor targeted new-born male children of labourers, who left their children alone as they worked.
