New Delhi: Till date 560 swine flu death cases have been recorded so far in India. Meanwhile, at least 234 new cases were reported in the country, taking the total number affected to 17,196.
On Wednesday, 14 new cases were reported in Maharashtra, taking the total number of people affected with the virus to 3,919 – the second highest in the country.
New cases were also reported from Rajasthan (42), Haryana (40), Uttar Pradesh (20), Karnataka (13) and Kerala (12).
Reports say that one death was reported from Rajasthan and Orissa each. With this, the toll in Rajasthan has touched 38, while three people have succumbed to the contagious virus in Orissa so far.
A statement issued here said that ‘Till date, samples from 83,989 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 16,962 of them have been found (to be) positive.’
Of the 234 new cases, 68 were from the national capital. This has taken the number of people affected with the flu in Delhi to 4,237 – the highest in the country now.
