Apple’s iPad tablet PC may be causing a spike in third-party developers building apps for the iPhone OS, according to mobile analytics company Flurry, although the iPhone and Android appear evenly matched in terms of user retention, session frequency and session lengths for their respective applications. Apple has predicted that some 140,000 applications will be available for the iPad upon the device’s release in two months, and is pushing the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta into the developer ecosystem to encourage further building of new programs.
