The Straits Times Index dropped 0.3% to 2,636.26 as of 10:17 a.m. Five stocks declined for two that rose on the 30-member gauge. The following shares were among the most active in the market.
Banyan Tree Holdings (BTH SP), the operator of luxury resorts, fell 1.1% to 91.5 cents. The company said its unit Laguna Resorts & Hotels Pcl was sued in a Thai court by TMB Bank Pcl for not allowing a proxy to attend and vote at a shareholders’ meeting in 2007. The suit was filed on Aug. 5, according to a letter to the Thai stock exchange. Laguna will defend itself against the allegations and appoint a legal counsel, according to the letter.
