If you understand web typography, you’d know that using fonts that are visually diverse and unique help a website stand out. And as always, Google is here to help you with that. Google Font Directory, a service launched not that long ago by Google, helps webmaster choose from over 18 high quality fonts that are open source.

Each of the fonts, when clicked, directs you to a page which has the code to help you embed the font on your website. The page also lists font specimen, character set and description.

Font Previewer
Another cool thing about the font directory is its font previewer. You can preview all the fonts available before you decide to use them. You can check by altering the font size, variant, making the letters capital or small, check the word and line spacing, and much more.

As you can see in the above screenshot, the left sidebar allows you to choose various options, and as you do it you can see the results in real-time on the right, with the text getting updated as you change the font styles.
Overall, designers who are always on the look out for better fonts would find this new service by Google useful.
