The Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS is an ultra-compact camera that is available with its own features. In fact, it is very small and measures 92×56x18mm, but despite its small size, it is sturdy, and almost the whole body is covered with metal.
The SD1400 IS integrates a 4x optical zoom lens as well as 5-20mm zoom length, aforementioned flash together with auto focus assist lamp. The camera is equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD screen that is considered to be a dominant element of the camera. On the right side of the screen one can find the camera’s controls. The screen also supports 230,000 dots. Beneath the control panel one can find a button used for showing information on the LCD screen as well as a button for activating the main menu.
The camera is based on two menu systems. The main menu consists of two columns, the first one is used for shooting settings and the other for basic camera settings. It also includes three shooting modes such as Smart Auto, Program, and Movies.
The image quality of the camera is rather good. The images look sharp due to the high quality lens.
But still one should mention that still the camera has its own limits such as lowlight ability, limited manual controls and relatively short focal controls.
