The ladies of daytime’s most popular table better take cover: There’s a new “View” headed to town. (Actually, it’s headed to CBS — but that’s close enough!)
This fall, an LA-based daily talk show, hosted by former Roseanne actress Sara Gilbert and a host of vibrant spitfires, will replace CBS’ daytime aging sudster soap As the World Turns — which goes off the air in September after a 54 year run.
The still-untitled one-hour gabfest will also feature Early Show host Julie Chen, rock n’ roll wife Sharon Osbourne, former actress Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini of King of Queens fame, and Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur.
The series looks at current issues through the eyes of mothers and will likely draw comparisions to its Emmy-winning competitor The View. The ladies will “swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home,” according to a presser issued Wednesday. They cast will also interview stars and shoot footage of themselves at home and in the field.
According to Deadline.com, which first reported the scoop on Wednesday, CBS also considered a new version of the classic game show Pyramid hosted by Andy Richter and a cooking game show featuring Emeril Lagasse before settling on its new talk show.
