New Delhi: On the decisions of the central Government to send a team to West Bengal, both the houses of parliament witnessed a rare show of solidarity among BJP, Left and SP on Monday.

As soon as the question hour begins in both the houses the the left parties raised the issue. They accused the congress led UPA government for planning to impose President’s rule in the Left Front-ruled State.
Home Minister P. Chidambaram tried to clarify the matter saying that he had a “good working relationship†with the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and the only purpose to move a team to WB is to hold discussions with State government
officials and assist them in maintaining law and order.
In his identical statement in both the houses he said that there was no need to see the Central team’s visit through the prism of Article 356.
In the Rajya Sabha, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said the move to send a team was in “violation of the Constitution and the federal structure.†While CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharia, in Lok Sabha said it a “murder of democracy.†Acharia further wanted to know under what provision a Central team was being sent. According to him, “The move is undemocratic and autocratic.â€
