Earlier in the year, 4AD free Dark Was the Night, the double-disc assembling that the National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner compiled and produced. The Dessners managed to ammo up contributions from a deeply awesome itemize of indie A-listers: Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Dirty Projectors with king Byrne, Ben Gibbard and Leslie Feist, and likewise some others to name. A some months later, they amygdaliform up some of the aforementioned grouping for a huge goodness show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
Proceeds from both the medium and the exhibit went to the Red Hot Organization, which raises money for immunodeficiency awareness. Today, 4AD’s website reports that the medium has, to date, upraised £423,212– or $668,358 American– for the Red Hot Organization.
That turn represents the money that Dark Was the Night’s income upraised during the prototypal half of 2009, so it doesn’t allow the money upraised at the Radio City show. And, of course, you crapper ease acquire Dark Was the Night, so it’s not finished making money.
