Eva Longoria Philanthropist Of The Year The Hollywood Reporter

Eva Longoria Parker has been named The Hollywood Reporter’s Philanthropist of the Year for her vigorous children’s charity work and dedication to social causes.

The 34-year-old star, who was born to poor Mexican immigrants was chosen, because of her dedication to give back to her community, The Reporter’s publisher Eric Mika said Monday.

“I’ve never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent. She pours her free time and energy into raising millions of dollars for charitable missions that make a difference in the Latino community and other humanitarian organizations,” said Mika.

Eva, who is married to pro basketball player Tony Parker, founded Eva’s Heroes, a charity in her home town of San Antonio, Texas, which provides an after-school program for children with developmental disabilities. She is also a spokeswoman for Parents Against Cancer, which aims to improve the lives of families of Latino children with cancer.
