Evergreen says container rates rise on demand, ship lay-ups

Evergreen Marine Corp., Asia’s largest container line, said rates are climbing as demand improves and shipping lines park vessels to ease overcapacity.
 
“The worst is over,” Owng Rong-jong, group executive officer for finance, said today in an interview in Singapore. “Freight rates have gone up, and the loading for our operations is OK at the moment after we idled some ships.”
