A film adaptation of DC Comics character “Deadman” will reportedly feature a Hindu goddess giving second life to a dead man, and helping him win a battle against evil.

Nikolaj Arcel (Kongekabale) will helm the Warner Bros project that apparently mentions a “Hindu goddess” and “Rama” in the storyline.

Guillermo del Toro (El laberinto del fauno) will reportedly produce the movie that has drawn concerns from Hinduism experts over the reported religious reference.

Rajan Zed, a renowned Hindu statesman, said in a statement in Nevada, US, if the Oscar nominated producer wished to portray Hindu gods/goddesses or concepts in the film, he hoped the depiction would be mirror the one in the scriptures.

The president of Universal Society of Hinduism added if that could not be the case, he would request renaming of the characters and concepts, minus any reference to the word Hindu at all.
