HP remains the worlds top PC maker, according to IDCs analysis of third-quarter desktops and laptops. The same report showed that Acer has now passed Dell to become the second-most popular global PC maker. Overall, PC shipments increased about 2 percent year over year, which is a good sign for the industry as the Windows 7 launch date approaches.
