New Delhi: Darjeeling MP and former Union minister Jaswant Singh has finally resigned as Chairman of the coveted PAC (Public Accounts Committee) of Parliament after countering BJP pressure over the matter.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar accepted his resignation after he handed over the letter to her on Monday. However, it’ll come into effect only from December 31. He’ll be replaced by former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde.
While talking about his resignation, Mr.Singh denied the fact that he had acted under pressure or that the move was motivated. He said,”I am surprised and saddened that you see some calculation. There is life beyond calculation even in politics,â€
He further said that his decision is not al all related with the Gorkhaland issue. Moreover he stressed on the fact that there was no change in his position on the grounds cited by the BJP for seeking his resignation.
