Kathy Griffin is taking a break from her comedy roots and getting serious on a new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She even shares an awkward with Mariska Hargitay’s Det. Olivia Benson!

“It’s definitely more serious than I usually do,” says Kathy of her character, a “militant lesbian activist” who finds herself under suspicion from Manhattan SVU when partner is murdered. Kathy’s episode airs next Wednesday on NBC.
