Couple of days after the Oscars, fans and family of the late Farrah Fawcett started to complain to the administrators of Oscars about the omission of the one of the “Angels†during the segment called In Memoriam.
According to Bruce Davis, the executive director of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, they were actually guessing that the omission of Gene Barry as well as Fawcett will be the most controversial of all. He said that few days before the segment, they really have to take out some people including those who are truly wonderful and contributed a lot to the industry. The rants of those who support these late movie stars, especially their families, are very understandable. Davis said that he knows where all these comments are coming from and they sincerely apologize for doing so.
The recent Oscars gave a video tribute to the outstanding celebrities in Hollywood who already passed away. This includes Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, and David Carradine to name a few. Unfortunately, one of the original Charlie’s Angels was not included in the tribute.
This is not the first time that the Oscars intentionally omitted a superb actor/actress on the said segment. There were also comments and rants circulated when Gene Siskel as well as Brad Renfo were not part of the In Memoriam as well.
