Pakistan has lifted its ban on YouTube to some extent, while the ban on Facebook continues and court hearing is pending on the matter.
Secretary to Information Technology and Telecom, Naquibullah Malik said that the ministry has lifted the ban on those portions of YouTube that do not carry any sacrilegious or profane content about the Prophet.
He said that the videos relating to the competition to draw sketches of the prophet were blocked and were no more accessible to the people of Pakistan. The ministry banned YouTube portions on its own.
But Facebook was banned on the order of a court. The ministry has banned one URL of the Facebook but the high court had ordered banning of the entire social networking site.
