The Prime Minister has said that there is a need to raise voice against those who attempt to divide the society on communal lines.
While speaking on the occasion of function organized to confer the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration on the martyrdom Day of Indira Gandhi in New Delhi, Dr Manmohan Singh said India is multicultural and multi ethnic society and liberal outlook has to be strengthened.
On the occasion Prime Minister Manmohan Singh lauded his contribution to peace, national unity, communal harmony and human rights, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Saturday’s occasion was marked by Congress President Sonia Gandhi who conferred the prestigious Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration to 81 year old Balraj Puri, the noted journalist, writer and human rights activist from Jammu and Kashmir for his efforts in the direction.
