Singapore plans to upgrade oil-refining industry, minister says

Singapore, Asia’s biggest oil-trading centre, plans to upgrade its refining industry to handle crude oil supply from “more diverse” sources and to produce higher-value products, a senior government official said today.

“To better manage a wider range of feedstock, the capabilities of our refineries will be enhanced to handle such increasing complexity and with greater efficiency,” said S. Iswaran, senior minister of state for trade and industry, without providing details.
