Singapore’s Straits Times Index advanced 1.5% to 2,670.65 at the 12:30 p.m. trading break. The measure is heading for a 1.6% decline this week and a 0.1% drop for the month. All but two of the gauge’s 30 members gained. The following shares were among the most active in the market.
Bulk carriers: The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of shipping commodities, rose 0.9% in London yesterday, snapping losses of 1.9% in the past two days. Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), a China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers, gained 1.8% to $1.15. STX Pan Ocean (STX SP), South Korea’s biggest bulk carrier, added 1.1% to $13.40.
