Super Bowl XLIV Most Watched Program In Television History

The folks at Nielsen weren’t kidding when they said Sunday’s Super Bowl game between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts was on its way to setting a ratings record. The 2010 NFL Championship Game is now the most watched program in television history.

Last night’s Super Bowl was watched by 106.5 million people, doing the Mash Potato all over the series finale of “M*A*S*H,” which garnered 105.97 million viewers when it aired in 1983.

The game was most popular in New Orleans , Washington, DC (Where Mother Nature is keeping residents under siege with more than 30 inches of snow!), Nashville, and Indianapolis.

Super Bowl XLIV also surpassed last year’s record viewership for the game between Arizona and Pittsburgh — only 98.7 million tuned in for that one.
