Lucknow: There is still suspense over IAS officer’s death. A senior IAS officer shot himself at his government accommodation late on Saturday at around 1a.m. Harminder Raj Singh, was presently posted as principal secretary, housing and urban planning.

He committed suicide after returning from a party hosted by batch mate Desh Deepak Verma in the occasion of his son’s marriage.

According to one IAS officer present in the party, “On Friday, he even danced with
other officers during the party. On Saturday too, there was nothing on his face that could even remotely suggest the extent of pressure that he was actually in,”

After the party Harminder along with his wife returned home and shortly after that they went for sleeping. But suddenly after some times he woke up and went to the other room and shot himself.

“I heard this sound of gunshot and ran towards the room to find him lying almost unconscious” said Aasina, Harminder’s wife. She then called up the police control room and was then to the Trauma Centre at the medical university where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Although no suicide no could be recovered so far, but according to a source, the officer was under tremendous pressures at his job front.
