I wonder if Volkswagen might eye Suzuki as a useful potential partner. Winterkorn recently admitted that Suzuki has its attractions as a small car specialist. It is also a Japanese OEM with a big slice of India’s car market. Marry Suzuki’s small car competence and Asian presence with VW’s industrial strength and it might well be a mix with good potential. For VW, there might also be the added attraction that bringing Suzuki into the VW sphere prevents it from entering Carlos Ghosn’s alliance – Renault is also said to be interested in Suzuki.
