STI little changed at 2,929.60 at 10:00 a.m

Singapore’s Straits Times Index was little changed at 2,929.60 as of 10:00 a.m. local time. The measure is heading for a 1.1% advance for the quarter. Seven stocks dropped for every six shares that rose on the 30- member gauge.

Shares on the measure trade at 15.3 times estimated earnings, compared with 17.5% at the beginning of the year, according to Bloomberg data. The following shares were among the most active in the market.

U.S. death toll in Afghanistan reaches 1,000 troops

The number of U.S. service personnel killed in Afghanistan since military operations began in 2001 has reached 1,000, icasualties.org reported on Tuesday. The independent site tracks losses suffered by international military forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. It said the 1,000 death occurred on Monday, citing a U.S. military command announcement on the death of a soldier in southern Afghanistan.

Apple Pulls 1,000 Apps from App Store After Fraud Claim

Apple pulls applications from its iPhone App Store after an accusation surfaces that the developer, Molinker, posted fake reviews about the mobile applications. Apple’s App Store has been expanding rapidly, offering as many as 100,000 apps in November, and research company IDC predicts that the online storefront will contain about 300,000 apps by the end of 2010.
