Popular Holdings acquires 22% stake in IT education provider ACP for $1.1m

Popular Holdings says it has acquired a 22% shareholding interest comprising 81,400 shares in the capital of ACP from an existing shareholder of ACP for $1.1 million. The deal was conducted through wholly-owned subsidiary Popular e-Learning Holdings.

ACP is principally engaged in IT Information technology training, education and other soft skills courses. The directors are of the view that the acquisition will bring synergy to the group’s e-learning business.

Asia Enterprises sees 63% lower 3Q net profit of $1.1m

Asia Enterprises Holding, the regional distributor of steel products to industrial end-users, today reported that the group posted a net profit of $1.1 million for the three months ended 30 September 2010 (3Q10), 63% lower than the same period in the last financial year, as revenue fell 45% year-on-year to $23.5 million due to a broad-based decline in orders from customers in various industries.

Advanced clinches oil & gas projects in China and the Middle East worth $11m

Advanced Holdings, the global supplier of proprietary process equipment and technologies, clean energy solutions and environmental technologies, says it has successfully clinched new oil & gas contracts for the supply of process analyser packages worth $11 million in China and the Middle East.

In China, the process analyser packages will be supplied to subsidiaries of US-based multinational energy giant Chevron Corporation, Sinopec and Petrochina.

In the Middle East, the supply is for Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company, a joint venture between two world oil majors, Saudi Aramco and Total. All these projects are expected to complete in 2011.

OKP wins $1.1m contract for Jurong Island reclamation works

OKP Holdings, the infrastructure and civil engineering firm, today announced that it has won a $1.1 million contract for land reclamation works on Jurong Island.

OKP says the contract was awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Or Kim Peow Contractors. Work on the foreshore reclamation project has already begun and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Metax Engineering returns to the black with full-year net profit of $1.1m

Metax Engineering Corporation, the homegrown environmental engineering specialist, says it posted a net profit attributable to equity holders of $1.1 million for the full year ended 30 June 2010 (FY2010) compared to a loss of $5.1 million for FY2009.

Metax attributes this improvement to the consolidation of full-year’s contribution by WS Bioengineering and its subsidiaries.

ST Electronics unit wins $11m contract to provide ‘Smart’ vehicle, asset tracking devices

ST Engineering’s electronics arm, ST Electronics, announced that its subsidiary, Telematics Wireless, has been awarded a contract worth US$8 million (about $10.9 million) and an option worth US$2 million by Ituran Location and Control to provide “Smart” vehicle and asset tracking devices for the recovery of stolen vehicles and goods. Telematics Wireless is a subsidiary of ST Electronics’ subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems).

Friven & Co. narrows 1H loss to $1.1m

Friven & Co. says it recorded a smaller net loss of $1.1 million for the six months ended 30 June 2010 (1H2010), compared to a net loss of $1.9 million in the previous corresponding period ended 30 June 2009 (1H2009), largely due to the group’s cost optimisation efforts.

Friven distributes soft furnishings and accessories for bed, bath, and home as well as children’s apparel and accessories.

Heng Long International posts 2Q net profit of $1.1m

Heng Long International, the tannery of crocodilian leather, says it posted a net profit after tax of $1.1 million for the three months ended 30 June 2010 (2Q10), up 173.5% from $0.39 million in 2Q09.

Heng Long attributes the improvement to increased sales arising from the overall improvement in the global luxury goods industry. Group revenue in 2Q10 increased 63.1% to $12.8 million from $7.9 million in 2Q09.

Otto Marine says its subsidiary Reflect Geophysical has entered into a contract with US-listed Geokinetics Inc to acquire 3D seismic data Acquisition in Block D4 Offshore Gabon off the gulf of New Guinea.

Asiatravel.com Holdings posts net profit of $1.1m in 2Q

Asiatravel.com Holdings, the pan-Asian online travel and hotel reservation service provider, posted a net profit of $1.1 million for its 2QFY2010 ended 31 March 2010.

Lower room rates and lower visitor arrivals in key destinations Thailand and Dubai caused a 5.9% dip in 2QFY2010 revenue to $17.4 million, and subsequently resulted in the drop of 40.9% in net profit from $1.8 million in 2QFY2009.

China Dairy records 66% fall in 1Q net profit to $1.1m

China Dairy Group says net profit for the 3 months ended 31 March 2010 fell 66% to $1.1 million owing to the increasing prices of key raw materials.

For the 3 months ended 31 March 2010, the group achieved total sales of $95.2 million, representing a 6.1% or $5.5 million increase over the corresponding period in 2009.

Sinopipe posts 137% rise in 4Q net profit to $1.1m

Sinopipe Holdings, the manufacturer of plastic pipes and pipe fittings, says it posted a 136.9% rise in net profit to RMB 5.4 million ($1.1 million) in for the three months and full year ended 31 December 2009 (4Q2009) from RMB 2.3 million recorded in 4Q2008.

Revenue for 4Q09 increased 10% to RMB 251.4 million from RMB 228.5 million. Gross profit, on the other hand, dipped by 6.2% from RMB 46.5 million in 4Q08 to RMB 43.6 million in 4Q09 while gross profit margin was lower at 17.3% in 4Q09, compared to 20.4% in 4Q08.

BreadTalk posts 43% rise in FY09 net profit to $11m

BreadTalk Group, the F&B group, has posted a 42.8% rise in net profit to $11.1 million financial year ended 31 December 2009 (FY2009) compared to $7.8 million in FY08.

Group revenue rose 16.1% to $246.5 million supported by growth across all business segments.

In 4Q, group revenue grew 5.4% to $68.2 million supported by growth across the bakery (+1.7%), restaurant (+23.5%) and food court (+3.6%) business segments, and across Singapore (+17.2%), and Hong Kong (+11.3%) geographical segments. Profit before tax for 4Q09 fell 26.8% to $3.9 million compared to 4Q 2008.

Boustead unit wins $11m in water, wastewater deals in Vietnam, Indonesia

Boustead Singapore says wholly-owned subsidiary, Boustead Salcon Water Solutions (BSWS) – the specialist in water and wastewater treatment – has been awarded $11 million in two separate contracts from the power industry.

The first contract was awarded by Lilama Corporation — one of the largest state-owned infrastructure engineering corporations in Vietnam — for the design, process engineering and construction of water and wastewater treatment plants for the Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant, a 2 x 600MW coal-fired thermal power plant that will be operated by Vietnam Oil & Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in Ha Tinh, Vietnam.

A-Sonic Aerospace gets $11m compensation from GE Aviation for terminating distribution agreement

A-Sonic Aerospace says one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has received a once-off compensatory payment of US$8 million ($11 million) from GE Aviation Systems LLC (GE Aviation) after a distribution agreement between the two parties was terminated.
