PEC started at Buy by Phillip Securities; with $1.50 target

Phillip Securities starts PEC (IX2.SG) at Buy with $1.50 target price, based on 8.75x P/E, 1.75x P/B, says Dow Jones.

Phillip Securities says Singapore-based plant builder has established working ties on Jurong Island with key industry players including Shell Eastern, Exxon Mobil, Singapore Refining Company, allowing it to secure long-term maintenance contracts, which are less volatile than project works.

RBS hired 150 in past year after Singapore exodus

The private banking arm of RBS (RBS.L) has hired 150 people in the past year in Asia following a massive exodus in Singapore, it said on Monday, as rivals poach from one another in the region to keep up with a surge in investible income.

Investor sentiment, however, remains weak, with 10 to 20% shift of total assets under management to cash and equivalent deposits, Nick Pollard, RBS Coutts’ Asia chief executive said at the Reuters Private Banking Summit.

Deutsche Bank has upgraded Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (BS6.SG) to “buy” from “sell” following 4Q09 results on back of earnings upgrades and attractive valuation.

The broker says FY09 results were robust and ahead of forecast.

“Yangzijiang has executed well, differentiating itself from other Chinese companies with its on schedule deliveries, conservative accounting and good planning.”

Google Cuts Nexus One ETF to $150 from $350

Google has cut a fee charged to users who cease using its Nexus One smartphone before four months from $350 to $150. The move comes in the wake of a broad probe into ETFs by the Federal Communications Commission, which Jan. 26 sent letters to AT T, Google, Sprint and T-Mobile asking how ETFs are charged and if consumers are adequately informed of the ETFs. Spotty 3G is one reason Nexus One users might cite as reason to void their contracts with Google and T-Mobile. To help mediate the 3G service and other complaints, Google expanded its service for the Nexus One to include phone support: 888-48-NEXUS (63987) is now live from Google.

Tiger Air to price Singapore IPO at $1.50 a share: Update

Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways will price its initial public offering at $1.50 a share, in the middle of an indicative range which will value the deal at around $248 million, two sources close to the  deal said on Monday. 
 
The IPO price compares with an indicative range of $1.35-$1.65, the sources told Reuters. Tiger’s IPO, is the first listing of an Asian airline in almost five years and comes at a time when the air travel market is still struggling and a tough environment has pushed some traditional carriers to the brink of bankruptcy.

Yahoo Prepping Engineers for Microsoft Partnership, Will Take $150 Million

Microsoft will pay Yahoo some $150 million by June 30, as opposed to giving out an annual $50 million over three years, if the search-and-advertising agreement between the two companies closes by June 30, 2010, according to reports. Meanwhile, a Yahoo executive claimed during a speech at Barclays Capital Global Technology Conference that Yahoo was already preparing certain engineers to be transferred over to Microsoft, per the agreement.
– Microsoft will pay Yahoo some $150 million in expenses once the two companies
search-and-advertising deal finally closes, according to reports circulating
online, while a Yahoo executive suggested that his company is already deciding
