“Mladić could have been arrested in 2006″

War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukčević said Friday that he believed that an opportunity to arrest Ratko Mladić was missed in 2006.

He added that Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz shared his opinion and that the persons responsible would be identified.

Head of Serbia’s Hague action team Vladimir Vukčević says the best opportunity to arrest Ratko Mladić came in 2006, but that it was missed due to obstructions.
“Mladić’s arrest fell through when Rade Bulatović, who was chief of the Security Information Agency, arrested Stanko Ristić, who was hiding Mladić. This was a disastrous move that allowed Mladić to escape. We had Mladić within our reach and just needed to decide on the purely technical issue of how to perform the arrest,” Vukčević said.

Wilmar posts first quarterly profit drop since 2006: Update

Wilmar International, the world’s largest palm oil trader, posted its first quarterly profit decline in at least four years as refining margins shrank and production yields from its plantations drop.

Net income fell 15% to US$344.5 million ($467.7 million), or 5.4 cents a share, for the three months ended June, from US$407 million, or 6.4 cents, a year earlier, the Singapore-based company said today in a statement. Earnings rose every quarter since at least 2006, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
