Dec 28: OCBC, BRC Asia, HG Metals, Singapore Technologies, SingTel

The following companies may have unusual price changes in Singapore trading today, say Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. Singapore’s market was closed early for Christmas Eve. It was closed for the Christmas Day holiday. Share prices are from the previous close. Singapore’s Straits Times Index fell 0.1% to 2,837.7.

In a brief pre-holiday session last Thurday, US stocks rallied and closed at 2009 highs after data showed that initial jobless claims had dropped and growth in durable goods orders suggested signs of an economic recovery.

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp (OCBC.SI) said today that it has invested 60 million yuan ($12.4 million) for a 19.99% stake in South China Trust Co, a new company in Jiangxi province in China.

Ace Achieve Infocom posts 28% rise in net profit to $1.7m

Ace Achieve Infocom, the developer of telco products and solutions in China, posted a 1.2% rise in revenue for the six months ended Oct 31 (HY10) to RMB 76 million ($15.5 million) in HY10 from RMB 75.1 million in HY09.

The rise in revenue was led by the operation and business support solutions segment and the broadband data solutions segment, says Ace Achieve Infocom.

Low Keng Huat posts 28% rise in net profit to $16.6m

Builder Low Keng Huat (Singapore) says it posted a 28% rise in net profit attributable to equity holders to $16.6 million for the three months ending Oct 31, 2009, from $12.9 million a year ago mainly due to higher construction profit and investment gain. This was however offset by lower profit from hotels.

“28 percent of Kosovo Serbs to participate in elections”

Non-governmental organization Kontakt’s surveys show that 28 percent of the Kosovo Serb population will participate in the coming local elections. A member of the NGO’s Kosovo branch, Fatmir Sheholli, said that the survey was conducted in Gračanica, adding that 125 persons were questioned.

BlackBerry Storm2 Coming to Verizon Wireless Oct. 28

Verizon Wireless announced that, like Vodafone, it will be offering RIMs update to touch-centric Storm. The Storm2 features BlackBerry OS 5.0, a faster browser and SurePress typing technology thats said to be improved.
– Following Vodafones Oct. 15 announcement, Verizon Wireless announced that it, too, will offer Research In Motions BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone beginning Oct. 28. The smartphone will be priced, after a $100 mail-in rebate, at $179.99 with a two-year contract.

At least 16 dead, 28 injured in Venezuelan bus collision

A collision involving a bus and another vehicle in Venezuela has claimed the lives of at least 16 people and left 28 injured. Jose Manuel Ruiz is civil protection director for Venezuela’s western Barinas state. He has told The Associated Press that the cause of Saturday’s early morning crash

Apple today announced that Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard will go on sale Friday, August 28 at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, and that Apple’s online store is now accepting pre-orders.
