Sri Trang opens 4.2% lower in Singapore debut

Shares of Thailand’s Sri Trang Agro-Industry (SRTA.SI), the world’s biggest rubber producer and exporter, opened below their issue price on their Singapore debut on Monday.

Around 9:00 a.m., Sri Trang was traded at $ 1.17, which is roughly equal to 28 baht . The shares opened at $1.15 or about 4.2% below the Singapore issue price.

Keppel +4.2%; rises further on contract win

Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG) rises further, and is up 4.2% at $12.42 vs up 3.0% at $12.28 by the midday break, after it bolsters the now-consensus bullish view over offshore & marine orders with news of another contract.

Keppel says it has secured a contract worth about US$416 million ($532 million) from Discovery Offshore to construct two harsh environment jackup rigs based on its proprietary KFELS Super A Class design.

Hi-P +4.2%; In smartphone/tablet sweet spot: DBS Vickers

Hi-P International (H17.SG) is +4.7% at $0.995 with 1.13 million shares traded.

Today’s rise marks the stock’s first strong showing since its better-than-expected 3Q earnings November 1 ($33 million net profit); downward trend since then likely as those results had been priced in after the stock’s 10% rise from September 22 on bullish FY10 guidance; but perhaps with the festive shopping season in full swing, investors are getting a reminder of Hi-P’s earnings potential, as a beneficiary of booming smartphone and tablet sales.

iOS 4.2 Brings iPad Users Up to Par

The long-awaited release of iOS 4.2 gives iPad users access to features such as multitasking, folder-based app organization and other goodies, including free access to the Find My iPhone feature of the MobileMe service from Apple. It brings the iPad into line with the iPhone, by turning what was originally the orientation switch into a muter. SembCorp Marine (S51.SG) down 4.2% at $4.82, after Upstream offshore & marine newspaper releases pricing details of Petrobras 28-rig tender, with SembMarine bids at higher end of scale; SMM bidding in two packages, in first (for 7 drillships) was third cheapest, in second (for 2 rigs) was fourth cheapest.
Brazilian shipyard EAS submitted lowest bids in both.

STX Europe says the  initial public offering of shares in STX OSV Holdings was 4.2 times subscribed. Trading of the shares of STX OSV on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange will start tomorrow at 9:00 am.

The offering of 325,646,000 shares consist of the offering of 180 million new shares by STX OSV and the offering of 145,646,000 existing shares in STX OSV by STX Europe Holding AS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of STX Europe AS.

Ziwo posts 42% rise in net profit to $6.5m

Foam and fabric manufacturer Ziwo Holdings says net profit grew 41.7% to a quarterly record of RMB33.7 million ($6.5 million) for the group’s third quarter ended 30 September 2010 (3Q10).

For the latest quarter, the group reported a 56.7% increase in revenue to RMB140.3 million, due mainly to the increase in production capacity coupled with the continuous strong market demand for its products, as sales volume for the quarter grew 39.2% to 10,194 tonnes..

Roxy-Pacific posts 42% jump in 3Q net profit to $9m

Roxy-Pacific Holdings, the homegrown specialty property and hospitality group, today reported a 42% jump in net profit to $8.9 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2010 (3Q2010) from $6.3 million in the previous corresponding period (3Q2009).

This increase was on the back of a 41% surge in revenue to $53.1 million in 3Q2010, driven mainly by a sharp 44% rise in revenue to $40.5 million from the group’s Property Development segment.

42 passengers die in Ukraine collision

The death toll in the Ukrainian accident involving a train that collided with a passenger bus has reached 42, including two children. Earlier it was reported 40 people were killed with 10 others in critical condition. Police have set the number of dead at 38.

Tiger Air reports 42% rise in passengers for July

Tiger Airways says it reported strong passenger volumes and load factors in July 2010. The number of passengers in July grew 42% over last year to 523,000. The average load factor across both airlines in Asia and Australia for the month was up 4 percentage points to 89%.

From August 2009 to July 2010, a total of 5.4 million passengers flew with Tiger Airways, an increase of 51% over the 3.6 million passengers who booked in the preceding 12 months.

China Fishery posts 42% rise in 3Q net profit to US$35.6m

Mainboard-listed industrial fishing company China Fishery Group (SGX: B0Z.SI) today reported its results for the third quarter (3QFY2010) and nine months (9MFY2010) for the financial year ending 28 September 2010.

In 3QFY2010, group revenue increased by 48.3% to US$159.4 million from $107.4 million in 3QFY2009. Net profit rose 42% to US$35.6 million from US$25.1 million in the corresponding year earlier period.

Singapore’s F&N up 4.2% on Kirin investment

Shares of Fraser & Neave (F&N) (FRNM.SI) were 4.2% higher in early trade on Tuesday after Japan’s Kirin Holdings (2503.T) paid a premium to buy a 14.7% stake in the Singapore beverage and property conglomerate.
