Maybank to acquire stake in Singapore stock broker-source

Malaysia’s Maybank (MBBM.KL) is to acquire a stake in Singaporean stock broker Kim Eng (KEHS.SI) from a Taiwanese investor, a source with direct knowledge of the deal told Reuters on Thursday.

Taiwan’s Yuanta Financial Holdings (2885.TW) owns about 28% of Kim Eng.

Shares in Maybank and Kim Eng were suspended from trade on Thursday.

A Maybank official said the company would hold a press conference later in the day but declined to elaborate.

CapitaMalls Asia to acquire Penang’s Queensbay Mall for $273m

CapitaMalls Asia says it will acquire Queensbay Mall in Penang, Malaysia, for about RM651.8 million ($272.8 million).

The acquisition will be carried out through CapitaMalls Asia’s subsidiaries and an asset-backed securitisation structure.

CapitaMalls Asia will acquire about 90.7% of the mall’s retail strata area (about 916,181 sq ft) and all its car park spaces. With net lettable area (NLA) of the strata spaces of about 892,361 sq ft, the purchase price is equivalent to about RM730 ($306) per sq ft of NLA.

Hoe Leong to acquire 51% stake in Aries Offshore Singapore for $20m

Hoe Leong has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Aries AP to purchase 51% of the issued and paid-up share capital of Aries Offshore Singapore for US$15.1 million ($19.9 million).

The remaining 49% of Aries Offshore is owned by Otto Marine’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Otto Ventures.

Aries Offshore owns four 5,150 bhp anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels which have existing bareboat charter contracts.

Mainboard-listed LMA International NV, the provider of supraglottic airway management devices, says it is in advanced talks to acquire Wolfe Tory Medical, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based manufacturer and distributor of medical devices.

The expected cash consideration for the acquisition is US$13.1 million ($17.3 million), plus additional deferred payments based on the 2012 trailing sales of two new products that will be introduced in 2011. But the proposed acquisition will not include Wolfe Tory Medical’s critical care product, AbViser.

Ezra to acquire 100% of Aker Marine Contractors AS, 50% AMC Connector AS for $424m

Ezra says it has entered into a conditional share purchase agreement with Aker Solutions AS (AKSO) and Aker Oilfield Services AS (AKOFS) to acquire 100% Aker Marine Contractors AS (AMC) from AKSO for US$250 million ($325 million) and enter into a joint venture by acquiring 50% of AMC Connector AS (ACAS) from AKOFS for up to US$75 million.

The total consideration for the proposed acquisition is therefore US$325 million.

Q & M Dental Group (Singapore) says unit Q & M Dental Group (China) has entered into a binding memorandum of understanding to set up a joint venture with the shareholders of Shenzhen New Perfect Exact Dental Research Co. (SZNP), Peng Hui Chang, Peng Jian Chang and Guo Yu Chun.

ST Aerospace awarded Mindef contract to acquire 12 M-346 aircraft and ground-based training system

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract to ST Aerospace, a unit of ST Engineering, to acquire 12 M-346 aircraft and a ground-based training system for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) replacement programme.

The aircraft will be provided by Alenia Aermacchi, while the training system will be supplied by Boeing. ST Aerospace will undertake the overall management of the AJT programme. The 12 M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system are expected to be delivered from 2012.

The acquisitions of the M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system mark a significant milestone in the RSAF’s force development, enhancing the capabilities and operational readiness of the Singapore Armed Forces, says Mindef in its press release.

Adventus Holdings’ New Zealand unit to acquire coal-mining operations for $11.4m

Adventus Holdings says Adventus NZ, its wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated in New Zealand, has agreed to buy the coal-mining permits, land, plant and equipment located at Boatmans’ Creek, Town of Capleston, New Zealand, from Medha International for US$8.6 million ($11.4 million).

Adventus says the proposed acquisition will allow the company to pursue the mandate given by its shareholders on 20 November 2009 to pursue the business of commodities and mineral resources management, ownership, exploration, mining and development activities.

Oriental Food to acquire China steel product manufacturer for $5m

Oriental Food (Holdings) says the company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Oriental Investments Group, has entered into a conditional share sale and purchase agreement to acquire the entire issued and paid up share capital of Jiangyin Dingsheng Jinshu Yayan Co. from vendor Li Yi for RMB25 million ($4.9 million).

RMB20 million will be paid to the vendor within one month from the completion of the proposed acquisition with the balance to be paid within six months from the completion of the acquisition.
