Thai Village aborts acquisition of China Stationery units
Thai Village Holdings says it will not go ahead with the proposed acquisition of the entire issued and paid-up capital of Sunwealth Group and Campus Developments from China Stationery for $296 million which was announced on July 23.
“The conditions precedent under the Sale and Purchase Agreement remain unfulfilled by the Longstop Date (31 August 2009). Pursuant to the terms of the Sale and Purchase Agreement, the parties have mutually agreed not to proceed with the Proposed Acquisition,” says Thai Village in an SGX statement.
Had the sale gone through, Thai Village plans to pay for the acquisition by issuing 1.48 billion new shares at an issue price of 20 cents apiece.

EC Now Will Take a Legal Look at Oracle’s Acquisition of Sun
The Brussels-based EC said Aug.3 that it has scheduled an antitrust review date of Sep. 3 to discuss the multinational companies’ proposed deal. It will look closely at two main areas of concern: Sun’s Java networking software franchise and the enterprise parallel database market.
– The proposed $7.4 billion Oracle acquisition of Sun Microsystems, which was approved by about two-thirds of Sun’s stockholders July 16 and its full board of directors a few weeks before that, is facing a new legal hurdle as of Aug. 3: a possible antitrust investigation by the European Commission.

Aztech Group says abandoning acquisition of Pandan Road property
Aztech Group says it will not be proceeding with the proposed acquisition of the property located at 9 Pandan Road.
Aztech had earlier signed an agreement with Swissco Structural Mechanical to acquire the property for $10.5 million and made a downpayment of $105,000.
Under the agreement, the proposed acquisition was conditional on Aztech completing its due diligence to its satisfaction and on the parties executing a sale and purchase agreement.
As both the conditions were not met, Aztech says it will not go ahead with the acquisition and will ask for a refund of the downpayment instead.

Ibrixs Fusion software is aimed at computing environments with massive storage demands, including high-performance computing and cloud computing.
