Modernization of the Russian economy is an issue for the country’s survival in today’s conditions, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says. “We must start modernizing and technologically upgrading the entire production sphere. This is an issue of our country’s survival in today’s world,” Medvedev said in his state-of-the-nation address to both houses of Russia’s parliament.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday addressed a special session of the Serbian parliament. This is the first time that a foreign statesman has addressed Serbian MPs, and the first time for Medvedev to speak in a foreign parliament.

President Boris Tadić said that the U.S.’s support for Serbia’s European future could help forge a new U.S. policy towards Serbia and the region.
In a speech to students and professors at Columbia University yesterday, Tadić said that the outcome of the global transformation in international relations would boil down to whether the international community was ready to begin seriously applying the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
