Server Virtualization Adoption Growing Rapidly, Gartner Says

Currently only about 16 percent of workloads are running on virtual machines, according to Gartner. But that will jump to 50 percent by the end of 2012, and a key driver of the move will be SMBs, which are seeing price points drop far enough to enable them to take advantage of virtualization, analysts say at the annual Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. The Gartner analysts also caution businesses of all sizes to start small, but to keep thinking ahead.
– Businesses aren’t using server virtualization to the extent that many people
might think, but use of the technology is going to grow rapidly, according to

Small Businesses More Aggressive in Adopting SAAS, Report Finds

A report by Saugatuck Technology finds that while 57 percent of enterprises plan on integrating some form of SAAS within the next two years, SMBs are being more aggressive about their rates of SAAS adoption, as the economy forces companies of all sizes to cut IT infrastructure costs by any means necessary. While SAAS has found some traction within the enterprise, some IT administrators and procurers are still ambivalent about the concept.

A big question mark hangs over the adoption of the Law on Public Information after the SPS announced that it would be abstaining from the parliamentary vote. MPs are due to vote on annexes and amendments to the Law on Public Information under urgent procedure.
