Jackspeed jettisons deal to buy 80% stake in Mil-Com Aerospace

Jackspeed Corporation says it has decided not to go ahead with the acquisition of an 80% stake in Mil-Com Aerospace for $6.3 million which it announced in July.

Mil-Com Aerospace provides aerospace engineering support services, aviation training and consultancy services while Jackspeed manufactures, upholsters and designs leather products and accessories for the automotive, marine and aviation sectors.

As part of the agreeement, Jackspeed will forfeit its deposit of $150,000 as the acquisition is not completed. Already the company has incurred $120,000 in transaction costs.

ST Aerospace awarded Mindef contract to acquire 12 M-346 aircraft and ground-based training system

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract to ST Aerospace, a unit of ST Engineering, to acquire 12 M-346 aircraft and a ground-based training system for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) replacement programme.

The aircraft will be provided by Alenia Aermacchi, while the training system will be supplied by Boeing. ST Aerospace will undertake the overall management of the AJT programme. The 12 M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system are expected to be delivered from 2012.

The acquisitions of the M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system mark a significant milestone in the RSAF’s force development, enhancing the capabilities and operational readiness of the Singapore Armed Forces, says Mindef in its press release.

ST Engineering unit acquires remaining 30% stake in ST Aerospace Training Academy

Singapore Technologies Engineering today announced that its aerospace arm, Singapore Technologies Aerospace, has acquired the remaining 30% equity stake in ST Aerospace Training Academy (STATA) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, ST Aerospace Engineering.

ST Engineering profit rises on aerospace, land units: Update

Singapore Technologies Engineering, Asia’s biggest aircraft maintenance company, said second-quarter profit rose 14%, bolstered by higher revenue from its aerospace and land systems units.

Net income increased to $124 million, or 4.11 cents per share, in the three months ended in June, compared with $108.7 million, or 3.62 cents, a year earlier, the company said in a statement to the city’s stock exchange. Revenue climbed 8% to $1.52 billion.

ST Engineering aerospace unit in US$99m China JV

Singapore’s ST Engineering (STEG.SI) said on Tuesday its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, will set up a joint venture with a Chinese firm, with a total investment of US$99 million ($135.9 million).

Jackspeed snaps up 80% stake in Mil-Com Aerospace for $6.3m

Jackspeed Corporation says it has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Mil-Com Investments to purchase 800,000 Mil-Com Aerospace shares representing an 80% stake for $6.3 million.

Mil-Com Aerospace is in the business of the provision of aerospace engineering support services, aviation training and consultancy services.

A-Sonic Aerospace unit gets the nod to start private education institute

A-Sonic Aerospace said its subsidiaries, Sterling Campus, has obtained approval to operate a private education institute in Singapore. Sterling Campus provides educational and training services which are related to the group’s existing aviation and logistics business. A-Sonic said another subsidiary has entered into a JV to establish Seven Seas Line to engage shipping line agency and container leasing.

ST Aerospace opens new hangar at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport

ST Engineering today said its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has unveiled its latest hangar complex at its China facility at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai. Its facility in Shanghai, Shanghai Technologies Aerospace Company Limited (STARCO), is a joint venture company between China Eastern Airlines (CEA) and ST Aerospace.

ST Engineering today announced that its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has been awarded two maintenance contracts for six years by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) for a total value of $363 million. Work for both contracts will start immediately.

Singapore aerospace industry output was worth $7b last year

Singapore’s aerospace industry had output worth $7 billion last year, on par with the performance in 2008, according to Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean. Teo was speaking at the opening ceremony today for a local airshow.

A-Sonic Aerospace gets $11m compensation from GE Aviation for terminating distribution agreement

A-Sonic Aerospace says one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has received a once-off compensatory payment of US$8 million ($11 million) from GE Aviation Systems LLC (GE Aviation) after a distribution agreement between the two parties was terminated.

ST Aerospace renews 3-year contract with US Airways worth $82m

ST Engineering says unit ST Aerospace, has renewed a maintenance contract with US Airways worth US$60 million ($82 million) over three years.

Starting next January, the renewed contract will primarily cover heavy maintenance visits for US Airways’ fleet of Airbus A330 as well as Boeing 737, 757 and 767 aircraft.

Maintenance work for the aircraft will be performed at ST Aerospace’s Mobile facility at Alabama in the US.

ST Aerospace bags $125m A320, Boeing 767 maintenance contract from US airline

ST Engineering says its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has secured a contract to provide airframe maintenance services for a major US airline worth about US$90 million ($125 million).

The maintenance contract will include C checks and heavy maintenance visits for a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft and Boeing 767 aircraft over three years, with an option to extend for two more years.
