This time, it is thanks to Minister without Portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin, who recently traveled to Turkey and said upon his return that Turkish Airlines intended to “enter an arrangement with Jat by March 1″.

RBS upgrades Tiger Airways to “hold” from “sell”

RBS has upgraded Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) to “hold” from “sell” and raised its target price to $1.90 from $1.58.

Tiger Airways said on Friday its third quarter net profit rose 60% to $22.6 million due to stronger passenger volumes and higher average passenger fares.

Tiger Airways’ 3Q net profit rises 60%

Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) said on Friday its third quarter net profit rose 60%, due to stronger passenger volumes and higher average passenger fares.

Tiger Airways had a net profit of $22.6 million for October-December, up from $14.1 million a year ago.

Its revenue increased 22% to $170.4 million, up from $139.5 million the same period last year.

Tiger Airways is part-owned by Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI).

Singapore’s Tiger Airways carries 22% more passengers in December

Singapore’s budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) carried 22% more passengers in December compared to the year-ago period, the company said on Monday.
Tiger Airways carried 555,000 passengers in December, up from 456,000 in the same month a year earlier, it said in a statement.

Singapore’s Tiger Airways extends 2 aircraft leases to boost fleet

Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) will extend leases on two Airbus A320 aircraft for a further 18 months starting from January, it said on Thursday.
 
This will boost its fleet to 28 aircraft from 26, Tiger Airways, which is part owned by Singapore Airlines, said in a statement.
 
Tiger also said it carried 5.7 million passengers for the 12 months ended Nov 30, 34% more than it did in the same period a year earlier.

Tiger Airways reports 34% increase in passengers in 12 months to November

Tiger Airways says it reported robust passenger volumes and load factors in November 2010, and further expansion of its fleet through lease extensions.

From December 2009 to November 2010, a total of 5.7 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways, an increase of 34% over the 4.2 million passengers in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to November 2010 remained at 86%, an increase of 3 percentage points year-on-year.

The Serbian government appointed a new director and chairman of the Managing Board of the state air carrier Jat Airways.
It came after Srđan Radovanović and Saša Vlaisavljević resigned.

Jat Airways Director SrÄ‘an Radovanović has resigned. Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjić told B92 that the government would “process his resignation”.

However, a spokeswoman for the national carrier, Maja Borović, has denied the information.

Technical talks on Jat Airways with Turks

The Serbian government and the Turkish partner interested in buying Jat Airways have begun a round of technical negotiation on the sale. The talks, if successful, “could lead to an agreement”, Serbia’s Minister Without Portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin stated on Thursday.

Macquarie upgrades Tiger Airways (J7X.SG) to Neutral vs Underperform, raises target to $1.80 vs $1.71, to incorporate 2Q results, accelerated fleet delivery schedule. 

Adds, Tiger’s increased total fleet estimates for FY12, FY13 to 33, 43 respectively (vs house previous forecasts of 31, 39, current size of 21 aircraft) results in +17%, +10% impact on FY12, FY13 EPS estimates.

Tiger Airways names Stewart Adams head of Singapore operation

Singapore budget airline Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) said on Wednesday it has appointed Stewart Adams as managing director for its Singapore operation.

Adams, a 34-year industry veteran, was previously the Managing Director of Deutsche Lufthansa’s (LHAG.DE) unit bmi (BMID.UL). He replaces Rosalynn Tay who is leaving the airline.

Tiger Airways CEO says targets “mid 80s” passenger loads

Tiger Airways Holdings, a discount carrier part-owned by Singapore Airlines , targets passenger load factors in the mid-80s percent, its Chief Executive Tony Davis told reporters in a conference call today.

The airline had a passenger load factor of 87% in its fiscal second quarter to the end of September.

Tiger Airways swings into the black with 3Q net profit of $14.1m

Tiger Airways Holdings says net net profit after tax for the quarter ended 30 September 2010 was $14.1 million, a $16.4 million improvement over the $2.3 million loss recorded for the same quarter in the prior year.

Revenue growth of 35.4% from $106.0 million to $143.5 million was ahead of passenger growth of 25.3%, resulting in a 10% net profit margin for the quarter. Growth in passenger volume outstripped seat capacity growth of 21.9%, leading to a 2.4 percentage point improvement in load factor to 87.0%.
