Revolver Golden Gods Awards

LEMMY, OZZY, SLASH, GROHL AND MORE GET HAPPILY HEAVY

Slash

The second annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards are set to tape Thursday, April 8 at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, and air on VH1 Classic on May 22.

Iconic guitarist Slash will perform. He will open the show with several numbers from his upcoming debut solo album. Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, who appear on his album, will be his special guests.

Lemmy will also team up with Slash and Dave Grohl to perform the electrifying Motörhead classic “Ace of Spades.” Later in the evening, Grohl will be on hand to present Lemmy with the Revolver Golden Gods Lifetime Achievement Award.

Another highly anticipated performance at these awards is by influential hard rock icon Rob Zombie, who will be joined for the first time by new touring drummer Slipknot‘s Joey Jordison. Two songs from the group’s live set will air on ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live Friday, April 23.

Black Label Society leader Zakk Wylde will be on hand to perform a very special metal version of the national anthem.

Who will take home the honor of “Epiphone Best Guitarist Award,” “Drum Workshop Best Drummer Award,” “Liquid Metal Best Vocalist Award,” “Harley-Davidson® Album of the Year Award,” “Samson Zoom Best Live Band Award,” “Ferret Music Best Underground Band Award,” “Ballhype Most Metal Athlete Award,” “Just Cause 2 Hottest Chick(s) in Metal Award” and the “Guitar World Comeback Of The Year Award”? Only the fans decide as voting continues now through Wednesday, March 31 here.

The Revolver Golden Gods Awards – hosted by Andrew W.K. and professional WWE wrestling superstar/Fozzy lead singer Chris Jericho – will also include musical numbers by Fear Factory (who will make their first LA appearance ever with their new line-up), As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and last year’s host, Brian Posehn, with an all-star band featuring Scott Ian, Brendon Small, John Tempesta, Brett Anderson and Joey Vera. The legendary Ozzy Osbourne will present the Metal Blade Golden God Award to Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford. The Revolver Golden Gods Awards will be televised on VH1 Classic Saturday, May 22 (air time TBA).

The REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS are about celebrating all that is best in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Check out highlights from the first annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards in 2009 here.

Lee “Scratch” Perry Adds Dates

LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY ADDS U.S. TOUR DATES

Lee “Scratch” Perry

Lee “Scratch” Perry, one of the most important figures in the history of reggae music, will be embarking on a brief U.S. tour this month. As an artist, songwriter, innovator, performer, creator, and especially a producer, Perry has been at the forefront of reggae music since the late 50′s ska movement. Perry is generally viewed as the inventor of dub, reggae and the “scratch” turntable effect used by DJ’s everywhere.

Perry’s most recent album, the Grammy-nominated Repentance, fuses his signature style with a truly diverse collection of contemporary musical influences. Starting with a chance meeting between Perry and hyper-energetic artist/producer Andrew W.K. at SXSW in 2006, the pair formed an unthinkable friendship which led to a musical collaboration, resulting in the remarkable Repentance, Perry’s 54th studio album. Guest musicians include electronic maven Moby, seminal producer Don Fleming, and drummer Brian Chippendale of staccato noise duo Lightning Bolt. The album fuses reggae with hip hop and dancehall, making a timeless Perry album that can only be described as a true masterpiece.
