MMW: 20th Anniversary Shows

REQUEST SETS AND OLD SCHOOL SHACK PARTIES!

Medeski Martin & Wood have announced the first details of their 20th anniversary plans for 2011. A statement from the band emailed to fans reads:

MMW Fans: Request your favorites! MMW’s entire first set of their March tour will be comprised of song requests. Their second set will be a nod to the improvisational shack party days with special guests to be announced. Fans can make requests through the MMW Facebook page starting today, January 28th. Or email your top 3 song requests (in ranking order) to info@mmw.net with the city of the March tour date in the subject line. Song requests will be collected through February 9th.

Also, we will be running our daily trivia contest via MMW Facebook beginning February 1st @ 3PM EST. Be the first to answer the question correctly and win free tickets to an MMW March show and other giveaways.

In celebration of MMW’s 20th anniversary milestone, John, Billy and Chris will hit the studio and record TWENTY new tracks. These tracks will be released monthly (DIGITAL-ONLY) until the end of the year. Stay tuned…

MUP marks 200th anniversary on Friday

The Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) will today mark the 200th anniversary since the institution’s foundation. Ceremonies will be held to mark January 21, 1811, when a decision was adopted to establish of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

gave full details about their plans this spring to perform their debut album, The Second Stage Turbine
Blade, in it is entirety in 22 cities across the US and in Toronto, Canada. The “Evening with” format will also
feature a rare 30-40 minute acoustic set, as well as an extra set of songs from other albums.

begun gearing up for a year-long celebration of their 20th anniversary by announcing the release of Live on
Ten Legs on January 18. The album is a collection of 18 tracks recorded live between 2003-2010. On
their official website, the band outlined more plans in celebration of their 20th year together (via CoS):

- A spring reissue of Vs. and Vitalogy in new, deluxe formats
- The release of Cameron Crowe‘s film, Pearl Jam Twenty, along with an accompanying book and
soundtrack
album
- A 20th anniversary destination weekend bash sometime in late summer
- Plus a number of special events and new, unexpected releases!

25TH ANNIVERSARY PLANS TO UNFOLD THROUGHOUT 2011

2011 marks the 25th Anniversary for Widespread Panic, who, among many things, has become legendary for their live
performances and loyal fanbase.

To kick off what will be a year of joyous celebration, Widespread Panic has
announced two shows on the original site where they first performed as Widespread Panic 25 years ago. The band
will perform at the Classic Center in their hometown of Athens, GA on February 10 & 11, plus a special February 14
Valentine’s Day show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA.

Tickets for the Athens shows will go on sale on January 8 at 9am EST at the Classic Center box office, via phone at

Widespread Panic: 25th Anniversary Plans

TOUR DATES AND DOCUMENTARY PLANNED

In an interview with Gary Graff of Billboard, Widespread Panic‘s Dave
Schools laid out the group’s plans for 2011 in celebration of their 25th anniversary.

The band does not plan on releasing new material in the new year, but Schools says he is sure that they will
tour in support of Dirty Side Down, which came out in the Spring of 2010. Billboard also reveals that a
documentary about the band is in the works, with filming having already begun over
Halloween weekend in New Orleans. The documentary is set to feature both current and archival footage.

Says Schools, “twenty-five years is kind of a milestone to keep a band together through all the things we’ve been
through. We’ve never had a chance to sit back and go, ‘God, there’s a lot of gigs under the belt.’ So it’ll be a good
time to go, ‘OK guys, we’ve made it a lot farther than anyone could have imagined’…and take a good, hard look at
how we can take this further, how we can continue to evolve as a group of people, not only musically but spiritually
and hopefully in a positive way.”

QuaidÂ’s birth anniversary today

LAHORE Â– The nation will celebrate the 134th birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah with national spirit and enthusiasm on Saturday (today).
The day has been announced a public holiday in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The national flag will be hoisted at all government buildings throughout the country. The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for the great leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and prosperity and development of the country.
A 31-gun salute and 21-gun salute would be given in the Federal capital and provinces respectively.
The three services chiefs and people from all sections of the society will lay floral wreaths on behalf of their respective services at the mausoleum of the Quaid in Karachi. A number of political, social, cultural and educational organisations have chalked out programmes to mark the occasion in a befitting manner.
In Lahore, one of the main functions will be held at the Alhamra Hall, Shaarey Quaid-e-Azam at 10 am under the auspices of the Nazaria-e-Pakistan Trust in collaboration with the Tehreek-e-Pakistan Workers Trust.
The function will be presided over by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while guest of honour will be President Azad Jammu Kashmir Raja Zulqernain Khan.
Senator SM Zafar, Zahid Hamid, Justice (Retd) Nasira Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Ajmal Niazi, MNA Bushra Rehman, Prof Humayun Ahsan and Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed Ali will also attend the function.
The PML-N Youth Wing will carry out a rally from Nasir Bagh to Faisal Chowk and will perform cake cutting ceremony for both Quaid-i-Azam and PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Camp Bisco, the three-day music and arts festival founded by The Disco Biscuits, will return to
Mariaville,
New York this July 7 through 9, 2011.

Camp Bisco 10 will once again be held at the picturesque Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, New York. The
venue is located approximately 20 minutes travel time from Albany, New York and sits on 200 acres of rolling, grass
fields.

Many of the improvements introduced to Camp Bisco 9 will return, including the second stage in the
main
field,
surround sound system late night dance tents and a local artists stage. Additionally, Camp BIsco 10 will expand to
include a second main gate for faster entrance into the grounds, an improved late night dance tent with a greater
capacity, daily music workshops and seminars, a second late night tent stage and a larger silent disco.

Holiday pre-sale tickets go on sale Saturday, December 18 at 12 p.m. EST for a limited allotment for $120. Early
bird
tickets will be available in limited quantities starting in January 2011 for $140, before general admission tickets are

Queen and Universal Music
Group have signed an exclusive, long-term agreement on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the group’s formation,
in 1971.

The new agreement with Universal Music covers the world outside North America, and the music of Queen will
appear through Island Records from January 1, 2011.

During the course of the anniversary year, Island will remaster and repackage, with additional content, each of
Queen’s 15 studio albums. The first five will be made available in March: Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A
Night At The Opera, and A Day At The Races.

Guitarist Brian May said, Â“We are very excited, after all this time, to be embarking on a new phase of our
career – with a new record company – with new ideas, and new dreams.Â”

The 40th anniversary celebrations begin with a major Queen exhibition in London, Â“Stormtroopers in Stilettos,Â”
opening in late February. This will be followed by a BBC-TV documentary and the production of a major Hollywood
film about the band, starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury. Acclaimed script writer
Peter Morgan (Â“The Queen,Â” Â“Frost/NixonÂ”) is working on the project, which is being produced by GK Films,
Robert
de Niro‘s Tribeca Productions and Queen Films.

AJK shuts to mark October 8 earthquake anniversary

MUZAFFARABAD (Online) Â– To pay homage to the martyrs of devastating earthquake that struck parts of Pakistan and AJK on October 8, 2005, a shutter down strike was observed here in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Various organisations have threatened to hold a long march towards Islamabad against the governmentÂ’s failure to complete the rehabilitation phase despite the passage of five years of the devastating earthquake that killed over 75,000 and left 3.5 million homeless. To mark the tragic day, AJK Law Minister Abdul Rashid Abbasi and other top officials attended a prayer ceremony and observed a minute silence, according to media reports.
Traders, students and civil society members held a demonstration across the city to protest against the governmentÂ’s lethargic attitude towards the ongoing rehabilitation work.
They said that hundreds of schools had yet to be repaired by the government.
Â“Thousands of homeless people are forced to sleep out in the open due to slow rehabilitation activities,Â” a protester said.
