Juniper Research expects mobile application downloads to approach 20 billion per year, the firm announced on July 14. On the same day, Apple gave word that its App Store had passed 1.5 billion downloads in its first year.

Microsoft Launches Silverlight 3 Ahead of Worldwide Partner Conference

Microsoft has launched Silverlight 3, its rich Internet application technology competitor to Adobe Flash. The new version of the application includes increased support and new features such as enhanced video performance.
