ASBIS is to start shipments of the world’s first 2.5-inch disc drive built on perpendicular recording technology – a 160GB notebook hard drive Seagate Momentus 5400.3. This brand-new notebook drive further closes the capacity and performance gap between desktop and notebook PC hard drives as more users replace aging desktop systems with fast, high-capacity notebook computers. ASBIS has signed a Direct OEM Agreement with Microsoft.The new agreement will license ASBIS to preinstall and distribute Microsoft software products on ASBIS’ personal computers. According to the newly signed Agreement, ASBIS has been granted a license to preinstall Microsoft software on its own systems, provide its customers with a backup copy of the preinstalled software, and distribute the preinstalled software to its customers. This Agreement complements the existing relationship between Microsoft and ASBIS.
