Dark pool operator Tora eyes expansion into HK, Singapore

Goldman Sachs (GS.N)-backed Tora, a dark pool operator in Japan, plans to expand into Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia next year, its chief operating officer said.

U.S.-based Tora launched its Crosspoint dark pool service in Japan in February 2010 and says it provides traders with access to more than 5% of the orders passing through the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Immediately after wrapping up a surreal arena-tour opening for Gorillaz and De La Soul through Europe, Hong Kong,
Australia, and New Zealand to close off the year, Little Dragon will splash into 2011 for a proper solo tour of their
own. The dates begin on January 7 with two special shows in LA and onward through the US and Canada. Little
Dragon are ready to deliver their third and still untitled full length through a proper label home in North America in
May / June 2011.

Singapore says SGX-ASX merger merits decided by shareholders

The benefits of a takeover by Singapore Exchange of ASX, operator of Australia’s main stock market, will be decided by its shareholders and not the island’s government, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said.

“The government cannot judge the commercial merits of the proposed merger,” Shanmugaratnam said. “The commercial merits will be decided by the respective shareholders of the two entities. Indeed, the transaction would need to be approved by the requisite majorities of the shareholders of both SGX and ASX.”

Citigroup to move Asia-Pacific co-CEO to Singapore

Citigroup Inc. will move its co- chief executive officer for the Asia-Pacific region, Shirish Apte, to Singapore from Hong Kong to oversee operations in South Asia.

Apte, 57, will continue to have responsibility for Australia, India and the ASEAN countries, Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit said in a memo to employees that was obtained by Bloomberg News. Citigroup spokesman Richard Tesvich confirmed the document’s contents, declining to comment further.

Ezra buys 4 PSVs for $168m; wins $66m in new charter contracts

Ezra Holdings, the integrated support and marine services provider in the offshore oil & gas (O&G) sector, will add four high-end multi-purpose platform supply vessels (PSVs) to its fleet in the light of the positive outlook for the sector. The investment of approximately US$130 million ($168 million) underlines its commitment to strengthening the capabilities of its core businesses and driving its next growth phase.

Meanwhile, Ezra has also announced that EMAS Offshore, the group’s operating entity for offshore support services, has secured letters of intent and/or letters of award for US$51 million worth of new contracts which will charter five anchor, handling, towing and supply (AHTS) vessels and a PSV to oil majors, national as well as independent oil companies, for operations in Asia and Australia. In aggregate, the average period for the new charters will exceed two years.
