EU commissioner in Belgrade visit

EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele will be in Belgrade meeting with Serbian senior officials on Wednesday. “The further progress of Serbia’s European integration will be one of my priorities, taking into consideration the importance of this country for stability in the Western Balkans region. I want to confirm that the Commission is prepared to prepare its opinion on Serbia’s application for EU candidacy as soon as the demand arrives from the EU Council,” he told daily Večernje Novosti.

Serbian FM meets British counterpart

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband showed support for the progress Belgrade has made in cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, said reports. “I stressed that Britain supports Serbia’s progress towards EU membership and the completion of the necessary conditions. Great Britain and Serbia share a vision of EU member for the entire Western Balkans region and are working to strengthen peace and prosperity in the region,” Miliband said after meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić in London on Monday.

Tadić: Balkans tearing down walls to EU

President Boris Tadić said that the Western Balkans region is tearing down its “Berlin Wall” with the its aspirations for joining the European Union. He said that the walls will be broken down when the region joins the EU, adding that this historical moment will complete the process of European unification.
