12 arrested over murder in Kosovo

The Kosovo police, KPS, arrested 12 suspects for the murder of one and wounding of two persons in the village of Banja, near Mališevo, central Kosovo. The police stated that during the arrest they confiscated several automatic rifles and guns, adding that one suspect is at large.

A Banja Luka, RS, based newspaper has announced that Croatian President Ivo Josipović has been chosen as their Personality of the Year. Serb, Croat leaders receive death threats

Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia leader Dragan Čović have received anonymous death threats.

According to Banja Luka-based daily Glas Srpske, the threats were sent to their respective party headquarters in Banja Luka and Mostar.

Srebrenica suspect arrested in RS

A man was arrested near the town of Banja Luka, RS, on suspicion that he committed genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.
The suspect was identified as Dragan Crnogorac.

Earthquake damage “exceeds EUR 100mn”

Kraljevo Mayor Ljubisa Simović stated on Wednesday that the damage caused by an earthquake exceeds EUR 100mn. Simović told journalists that the city of Banja Luka in the Serb republic (RS) in Bosnia made a donation of EUR 25,000 to help the central Serbia town.

Computer store robber bleeds to death

A young man has died in Banja Luka, RS, after his failed attempt to rob a computer equipment store. Reports said that the victim, identified with his initials as Z.D., was found in a street in downtown Banja Luka early this morning, about 40 meters away from the store.

Serbian president, RS premier meet

Serbian President Boris Tadić and Bosnian Serb republic, RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik met late on Wednesday in Belgrade. They agreed that the relations between Belgrade and Banja Luka were very good and that the cooperation was deepening, particularly in the domain of economy.

Dodik: No rift with Belgrade

Republic of Srpska (RS) Premier Milorad Dodik reiterated late on Thursday that there was no rift between Belgrade and Banja Luka. Dodik said that Serbian President Boris Tadić and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković will soon attend a meeting of the Committee for the implementation of the Agreement on Special Parallel Ties between Serbia and RS, which will be held in Bosnia’s Serb republic.

Serbian President Boris Tadić has arrived in Banja Luka, where he will attend Republic of Srpska (RS) Day celebrations. RS Day, celebrated on the day of the entity’s patron saint St. Archdeacon Stefan, will be attended by various foreign and international diplomats. “Bosnia disintegration would be catastrophic”

British Shadow Foreign Minister William Hague and former High Representative in Bosnia Paddy Ashdown say the break-up of Bosnia would cause a “disaster”. In an article the pair published in the Financial Times, dubbed, “Broken Bosnia needs western attention”, Hague and Ashdown described tensions between Sarajevo and Banja Luka and made an observation that the danger of Bosnia breaking up was “realistic”.

RS, Serbia sign cooperation deal

An agreement was signed in Banja Luka between the Serbian and Republic of Srpska (RS) governments and two commercial banks on Tuesday. The agreement is on subsidizing interest rates for loans needed to purchase non-durables in 2009, including IMT tractors, Fiat Punto cars, furniture and the use of tourism packages.

Dinkić visiting Banja Luka

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić will be in Banja Luka on Tuesday as the agreement on economic cooperation between Serbia and the RS comes into force. In a statement, the Economy and Regional Development Ministry said that during his visit, an agreement would be signed with banks on subsidizing interest rates for loans, which would be signed by Republic of Srpska (RS) Finance Minister Aleksandar Džombić and various bank directors.
