Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will pay a technical visit to Belgrade in the second half of February. He will discuss with Serbian authorities the operational aspects of Serbia’s cooperation with the Hague, member of the Prosecutor’s Immediate Office Frederick Swinnen told Tanjug on Wednesday.

“Serbia needs custom restitution model”
Deputy PM Božidar Äelić stated on Wednesday that Serbia needs a custom made restitution model characterized by modesty, particularly in its financial aspect.
“The injustice must be corrected. On the other hand, one must make sure that the indemnification for the injustice committed several decades ago will not jeopardize the future of the nation,” Äelić told the journalists in Belgrade.
Union leader: State will face bankruptcy
Independence Union President Branislav ÄŒanak says the state will face bankruptcy once faced with “demands from all unions”. “At one point the government will have many demands in front of it, and after answering those demands, the state will have to declare bankruptcy of that company called Serbia,” ÄŒanak told Radio B92 in Belgrade on Wednesday.
EU commissioner: New level of relations
By submitting its answers to the EC questionnaire Serbia has taken relations with the EU to a new level, said EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule.
“We have started studying hundreds of thousands of pages. There will be many missions that will come to Belgrade,†he told B92.
“Call elections, or see Belgrade grind to halt”
The opposition SNS party leader says that the government will face protests should it fail to call early elections. If the government chooses to ignore the party’s demands, “including the most important one which refers to calling early elections within two months”, SNS will launch protests until the demands have been met, Tomislav Nikolić stated on Tuesday.
Unions urge more negotiations
The Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions (SSSS) has called on the government to agree to a new round of negotiations on demands tabled by striking teachers. The SSSS supports the actions of the Serbian Education Union in its effort to improve the position and living standard of education employees, according to a statement in Belgrade on Tuesday.

The future of Serbia’s national air carrier Jat Airways has once again attracted the attention of politicians, a Belgrade newspaper writes. This time, it is thanks to Minister without Portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin, who recently traveled to Turkey and said upon his return that Turkish Airlines intended to “enter an arrangement with Jat by March 1″.

A Belgrade newspaper writes today that negotiations on Kosovo between Belgrade and PriÅ¡tina could start in March. Opposition leader warns of “provocations”
One of the leaders of Serbia’s opposition, Velimir Ilić, says he learned that the authorities will try to provoke unrest at the forthcoming protest rally. The authorities will “try to repeat the scenario of provocation that took place at the rally in July 2008“, said Ilić, announcing the gathering in Belgrade scheduled for February 5.
Ex-general released after questioning
Aco Tomić, a former military security chief, was released after he was questioned by the police on Monday in Belgrade. Tomić, who holds the rank of general, is suspected of aiding the hiding of Hague fugitive and former military leader of Bosnia’s Serbs Ratko Mladić.
Serbians return from Egypt
A plane with 120 Serbian tourists from Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada landed on Monday evening at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport.

Greek parliament ratifies Serbia’s SAA with EU
The Greek parliament has ratified Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the European Union, the Greek embassy in Belgrade announced today.
Greek Ambassador to Serbia Dimostenis Stoidis pointed out that the ratification is a practical expression of the commitment with which Greece has supported Serbia’s EU membership, as part of its Agenda 2014 initiative, designed to accelerate the European integration of the countries in the Western Balkans.

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Rasim Ljajić, representatives of the City of Belgrade and members of the diplomatic corps and the Association of Jewish Communities in Serbia laid wreaths at a monument to the victims of the Holocaust at the grounds of the former German Nazi concentration camp Staro SajmiÅ¡te, which the occupying army set up in Belgrade.
