STI off highs; China tightening worries cap gains

Singapore shares are flat at 3187.00 with 1.06 billion shares changing hands worth $905 million and 283 decliners vs 120 gainers.

The benchmark index has pared all of its earlier gains (3207 intraday high) and a lower close is on the cards as caution remains amid lingering worries over the impact of Chinese monetary tightening, and ahead of the FOMC meeting tomorrow in the U.S., analysts say.

Great Eastern said to plan benchmark sale of 15-year bonds

Great Eastern Holdings, the Singapore insurance company, plans a benchmark sale of 15-year bonds denominated in Singapore dollars, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The notes may be priced to yield around the 4.75% area, the person said, asking not to be identified as details are private.

SingTel Optus plans to sell benchmark 10-year bonds in euros

SingTel Optus Pty, a unit of Southeast Asia’s largest phone operator, is planning a benchmark issue of 10-year bonds in euros, according to a banker involved in the deal. BNP Paribas SA, Citigroup Inc., HSBC Holdings Plc and JPMorgan Chase & Co. are managing the deal.

Singapore benchmark cut-off yield at expected 2.91%: Update

An auction of benchmark 20-year Singapore government bonds was oversubscribed and fetched a cut-off yield of 2.91% on Friday, well within market expectations.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore said $4.118 billion worth of bids were received in the auction for $2 billion of bonds.

Olam said to plan benchmark sale of 10-year bonds: Update

Olam International, a Singapore- based commodity trader, plans a benchmark sale of 10-year dollar bonds, according to a person familiar with the matter.
 
The company hired HSBC Holdings Plc and JPMorgan Chase & Co. to manage the sale, it said in a statement to the Singapore stock exchange earlier today.

Temasek sets benchmark with longest-dated Singapore bond sale

Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s state investment company, raised $1 billion from the longest-dated local-currency bonds as it seeks to develop the island state’s capital markets.
 
Temasek sold 4.2% 40-year notes with help from DBS Group Holdings and Standard Chartered Plc, it said in a statement to the Singapore stock exchange. Before today its longest-maturity Singapore dollar bonds were the $300 million in 4.2% securities due 2039 it sold in December, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Temasek eyeing benchmark sterling bond sale: Reuters sources

Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings (TEM.UL) is looking to sell sterling-denominated bonds, its first issue in the British currency, to diversify its funding sources, people with knowledge of the deal told Reuters.

Temasek plans a benchmark issue, industry jargon for an issue equivalent to at least US$500 million ($690 million), and is in the process of sounding out potential investors through UBS (UBSN.VX), Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) and HSBC (HSBA.L), the sources said.

Olam said to plan benchmark sale of 3-year bonds

Olam International, a supplier of commodities from coffee to cashews, is planning a benchmark sale of three-year bonds denominated in Singapore dollars, according to a person familiar with the matter.
 
The Singapore-based company hired DBS Group Holdings, HSBC Holdings Plc and Standard Chartered Plc to manage the sale, said the person, who declined to be identified before a public announcement.

Database giant Oracle is fined $10,000 and directed to take corrective action after running an ad in The Wall Street Journal and The Economist making a claim without registered proof in relation to a published TPC-C performance result from IBM.
